Shropshire's Idris Mohammed has been handed a lifeline with a place in a national semi final - despite losing during the last phase!

Mohammed thought he'd bowed out after a unanimous defeat in the pre-quarters to Thomas Hessin, from Waterfront in Leicester, earlier this month.

But Hessin sustained a hand injury in the contest which hasn't cleared up even with extra time to recover, due to a bye in their weight class past the quarter-finals.

So it's Mohammed who will square up against Kai Hume, from Newbiggin in Northumberland, at the Spa in Bridlington tomorrow.

Another stiff test awaits at 70kg awaits in Class B, for boxers born in 1999, with Hume a Three Nations gold medallist and national boss.

Club-mate Husan Hussain, Wellington's first national champion in the England Junior tournament this year, is also involved at 48kg in Class B.

After a series of walk overs, Hussain comes into the competition to box for the first time against fellow stylist Ibrahim Nadeem.

Bury's Nadeem has also been to the top table in national competition, with Hussain hoping to make a name for himself by taking his scalp.
