Shropshire boxing duo are golden girls

Two Shropshire boxers are the best of British after coming out winners in the GB Youth and Junior Three Nations tournament.

Simran Kaur and Kara Murray won their respective categories at the Magna Centre in Rotherham.

They helped England to 31 gold medals and 25 silver, while Scotland picked up three gold and nine silver, and Wales won five gold and five silver medals.

Kaur beat Elsie Pattenden (England) in the 48kgs section by a unanimous points decision.

Murray alos won by a unanimous points decision against Brook Eaton (England) in the 68kg category.

There was heartbreak for Donnington's Bradley Thompson as he lost by a unanimous points decision to Khalil Osman in the 46kg category.

Both Kaur and Murray are members of the Len Woodhall Club in Telford.

Cliff Perkins, England team manager, said: 'I'm very proud of the sporting attitude shown by this young team. We witnessed some really promising performances and it's a very exciting time to be part of Team England."
