Boxing prodigy Simran Kaur secured another national title ahead of a European championship tilt next month.

The 15-year old punched her way to a second-round stoppage victory against Elsie Pattenden of Hastings West Hill ABC to win her third national crown, and her first in the junior class after two in the school category, writes Jack Bradley.

Brian Robb, who coaches at the Len Woodhall Community Boxing Club where Kaur trains, was highly impressed with the victory.

"It was brilliant. She has trained really hard," he said.

"In the first round she boxed behind her jab and then stepped it up in the second and forced the stoppage with a couple of really good right hands."

There was no time for rest for Kaur, as following her victory in the final of the FBT Junior Championship, she linked up with the England team to chase further victories.

"She actually boxed on the Sunday then met up with the England squad on Monday" explained Robb.

"This week, she will fight the Irish No.1 and then the Irish No.2 the next day."

Robb also paid homage to the close-knit relationship Kaur has with older brother Harry Dhillon, which he feels has aided her progress.

"Her brother takes care of her sparring – takes her to spar and takes her to her fights," he said.

"Because of how many people we have training at the gym, he helps out. Without him, we would really struggle at times."

Kaur and those closely associated with her will remain hopeful that the work she continues to put in will pay off when she boxes at the EUBC European Confederation Women's Youth and Junior Boxing Championships.

One of Kaur's amateur losses – which amount to just two – came at the previous European Championship competition in which she was defeated in the final.

Robb feels that the experience she has gained so far will serve her well in the future and that her potential could take her right to senior level.

He insisted: "There is no doubt in my mind that she can go all the way."
