The 27-year-old Mexican international netted the winner – and his second goal of the season – against Burnley last weekend, marking back-to-back victories for Wolves in the Premier League.

And Jimenez is aiming to help Wolves earn a third straight win by increasing his tally against Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.

“It was amazing (to score the winner against Burnley),” said Jimenez.

“It was a great experience. We had a lot of opportunities but at the end of the match, 1-0 and that goal was mine. It’s amazing. It was a really, really great experience and I want to do it too much times.

“It wasn’t too difficult for me to adapt to the Premier League. I think with my style of game I am good for this league and I think I adapt good.

“We have to continue working hard in training and we know that in the Premier League we have to score.

“If you want to win, first of all you have to have a clean sheet and if we do that we have more opportunities to win the match.

“Maybe we have to continue working and that is the thing and I think we can do it.”

Earning a win at Old Trafford will be no easy feat though – Wolves have not won there in nine visits going back to 1980, losing the last eight.

But Jimenez says Wolves will travel there with the full belief that they can earn all three points.

“We are thinking on that (getting a victory),” he said. “No-one expects that, only us, and we have to make a great match mentally, fight physical with the ball.

“Now we have a lot of confidence, we are in a great moment, so I think it is possible (to earn a win) if we do what we were doing last match.

“Manchester United is a great club that all the world knows.

“In Mexico, it is one of the most typical that all the people know.

“Last year I had the opportunity to play at Old Trafford with Benfica and it was a great experience and now here is another opportunity. We have to give our best if we want to take points from them.”

Nuno Espirito Santo has named an unchanged team in their opening five Premier League games, which has seen them earn nine points.

And Jimenez says competition among the squad is strong, which is helping the players to perform well on the pitch.

“Yes we have to do it in the training sessions and in the matches,” he said. “We have to do and give our best, improve the team, always thinking that the team is first and I like to be always in the starting team, but if sometimes I am going to be on the bench it is OK.

“If I get in I have to do my best, if I play 90 or if I play five minutes.”

He was also full of praise for manager Nuno, saying: “I think he is a great coach.

“When we are training, he tries to make us understand all the things he wants us to do on the pitch and sometimes he talks with me.

“I have to be on the middle taking care of the defensive process and then like a striker I have to score goals.”
