West Brom loans have historically been key to Championship success - and they can be yet again
West Brom's record in recent years when it comes to permanent signings has been questionable - but when it comes to loans, especially in the Championship, it has very much been more hit than miss.
We all know that financial constraints have left Albion in a position where they are going to dip into the bargain bucket one again, scouring the market for free agents.
Trying to unearth another Brandon Thomas-Asante is going to be another strategy the club are looking to take, if they can bring money in through player sales. But arguably the most important part of Albion's summer plans is going to be the loans.
And history says that when Albion get their loan deals right in the Championship, more often than not they play a huge part in firing the club to promotion.
Last season they failed to use the loan market in the summer, adding just Marc Albrighton in January, who failed to make an impact.
