AFC Telford United manager Steve Kittrick has demanded his team cut out the mistakes after they slumped to their third defeat in four games at Tamworth.

The Bucks finished last night bottom of National League North, following their 2-1 defeat in Staffordshire.

Danny Glover scored their first goal of the season to cancel out Shane Clarke's first-half opener, but then Clarke netted a 69th-minute winner.

Both the the home side's goals came from defensive mistakes and Kittrick said: "We are just making mistakes.

"If you look at the way Tamworth defended, if they wanted it to go in row Z, it went in row Z. That is what I am disappointed about.

"It took me until half-time to get them in, get them organised and them have that little bit of belief again.

"It's so frustrating because they are not bad footballers, but they have got to do the ugly side of the game and there were one or two that didn't fancy it."

He added: "We gave them two goals and we have got to defend better. If we don't do that we will stay where we are.

"One or two of them have got to start waking up and smelling the coffee, because it is not tippy-tappy pretty football.

"You have got to learn how to put a foot in and I thought we did for 20 minutes in the second half.

"But when they had their 20-minute spell instead of looking at each other and making wrong decisions somebody needs to step up to the plate and make the right decisions."

Kittrick added that he remains on the hunt for an experienced centre-half with leadership qualities, to help remedy the Bucks' defensive frailties.

The Bucks chief, who made several changes to the team in the summer, is reluctant to bring in many more players as he bids to create a settled side.
