Rob Smith sets Bucks Christmas target

Boss Rob Smith today set AFC Telford a target of being out of the bottom three by Christmas.

Smith is demanding a big response from his side and insists everyone at the club is 'up for the fight' to get the Bucks out of their rut.

The New Bucks Head chief pulled no punches in response to his side dropping out of the FA Cup at lower division Kettering last weekend.

But he has defended his comments, claiming the words were warranted.

Smith said: "I totally stand by my words. I was just saying what I saw and I'm being honest, which is all I want to be. It was a really poor performance lacking in passion and desire but it's gone now and we have to move on.

"We've been taking one step forward and two steps back and obviously there's a lack of confidence around the place.

"But gradually we'll get new players in and I'm convinced we'll get there in the end.

"I think the lads I've brought in have done well. It's difficult coming into a side that's struggling.

Massive

"Things will get better here it's just going to take time. Everybody knows the situation at the club and everybody knows that we are in a massive battle.

"We can sit down and mope about it or we can be prepared for a fight and I certainly am."

He also revealed there was a time-frame in place to get the club out of their current precarious position, rock-bottom of the National League North, with a trip to second-place AFC Fylde on Saturday.

"It's not all about Saturday. It is about the consistency," added Smith.

"We're nowhere near happy with what we're selecting but we'll get there in the end.

"My aim is to be out of the bottom three when we come to the Christmas fixtures and go into the New Year with some positivity."
