AFC Telford United boss Rob Smith is looking to cut six from squad

Smith, who completed the month-long loan of FC Halifax midfielder Jake Hibbs for today's visit of Boston United, has told Josh Brizell and Greg Wilkinson to get out on loan.

In recent weeks Smith has allowed Mark Lees, Mike Grogan, Jordan Goddard, Jack Roberts and Zak Lilly to get football elsewhere on a temporary basis.

Neither Brizell or Wilkinson has made the 16 for the last three games.

"I'm still looking at a 24-man squad which is too big and I'm looking at losing five or six," said the boss.

"At the moment, Josh and Greg aren't going to get first-team football so if they get an opportunity to get games elsewhere then they should take it.

"They've been training but we've had no interest in them from other clubs. If we do get interest, we'd be willing to let them go out.

"The only chance of any of them getting in this team is if they go out and prove their fitness and show the right attitude that 'Groges', Mark, Zak, Jack and Jordan have."

Brizell's last league action came on September 12 as a half-time substitute in the 4-0 defeat to Harrogate.

Wilkinson's last game was the week before in the 1-0 defeat at Bradford Park Avenue, when he was replaced at half-time by Lees.

But while he looks to make changes elsewhere, Smith is happy with his back four.

He saw his back line keep their first clean sheet in seven games with last week's 2-0 win against Stalybridge Celtic. The Bucks chief has changed his whole back four after signing centre-backs Paul McCone and Curtis Tilt, full-backs Dwayne Samuels and Darren Campion, plus Graham Hutchison on loan.

They have replaced Mark Lees and Ben Harrison, who he has allowed to leave, while on-loan Jack Deaman is still out with a hamstring injury.

Smith had McCone, Tilt and Campion at Hednesford and is satisfied with his defensive unit.

"I'm certainly not looking to add any more defenders," said Smith. I'm happy with them.

"Darren I've known for years and he captained my Hednesford side.

"He's not without his faults but I know I can rely on him and what he does well, he does very well.

"Dwayne and Graham were tremendous against Stalybridge and Curtis has been the best player at the club.

"They pick themselves in terms of getting into the matchday squad but then it's a case of which one I leave out."
