Dave Hibbert: I can't wait to play next match

Dave Hibbert admits he can't wait for the next AFC Telford United game these days.

The Bucks have turned around their fortunes in recent weeks and go to basement side Corby tomorrow on the back of a four-match unbeaten run.

And having broken their seven-month away hoodoo with Tuesday's superb 3-1 victory at FC United of Manchester, the 29-year-old is itching to get back into action again.

Telford's turnaround has come about partly because of a pressing game on their opponents that requires a high level of fitness and commitment.

And Hibbert believes the players have become more professional and more like team-mates during the improved run.

"I'm loving it and I can't wait for the next game," said Hibbert. "I certainly hope we can keep this tempo going.

"I'm doing everything I can to make sure I'm right and I'm sure the other players are the same.

"We're all fit lads and thrive on workrate and the respect we've got for each other as individuals makes it a great place to be in at the moment.

"As long as we look after ourselves, be professional and keep doing the right things consistently, there's no reason why we can't continue this run."

Tuesday's long-awaited victory was the Bucks' first on their travels since April 18 at Altrincham. And Hibbert believes they can build on it now. "We'd put in decent performances at Boston and Fylde but we were determined to put it right with a win and we came through it with great credit," he said. "It showed two sides of us because in the first half we played some good football and in the second we had to dig it out because we were up against it for long periods."

Corby have gone 13 games without a win and have lost their last five games, leaking 14 goals in the process.

It's a run similar to that of Telford a few weeks ago, but Hibbert doesn't see similarities.

"They will be hurting now because we were in the same position a few weeks ago – but we knew we had the quality to get out of it and once the gaffer had instilled a way of playing and brought a few players in, it was only going to be a short-term thing," he added.

Two Corby players have Telford connections – and Hibbert warned his team-mates to beware. On-loan Wolves left-back Ben O'Hanlon is Telford-born, attended Thomas Telford School and is primed for his home debut, while winger Greg Mills had two loan spells with the Bucks in 2010/11.

"It will be a big day for them – players always want to do well against their old clubs and I'm sure Greg will be no different.

"Ben being from Telford, it's a big game for him," said the striker. "But we must concentrate on ourselves and make sure we do the right things."
