Larry Chambers: Shape up or we'll ship you out

A frustrated Larry Chambers has warned AFC Telford's players they must shape up or face the axe after blasting their "lazy" performance in defeat at Corby Town.

Saturday's 3-2 loss, to a team who had not won since August, ended the Bucks four-game unbeaten run and sent them back into the National League North bottom three.

Assistant boss Chambers and manager Rob Smith have embarked on a major squad overhaul since returning to the club earlier in the season.

And Chambers admitted Saturday's display suggested their work is far from done.

"I'll make it clear, just because we won at FC United last Tuesday and got ourselves out of the bottom three, we did not think for one minute the work was done," he said.

"We know for the rest of the season we will have to work as hard as we have done for the preceding 12 weeks.

"If we have to keep bringing players in and moving them out until we are happy with what we have got that will be the case.

"After Saturday's performance, you can see we are not right. I thought above all else, it was a lazy and lethargic display.

"If the players aren't good enough to do it we will get players who are durable, who can do it home and away. I don't think we are there yet."

Chambers revealed he and Smith are hopeful of adding another one or two players to the squad by the end of the week, while talks to renew the loan stay of Halifax defender Graham Hutchison are progressing.

The 22-year-old, currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, has been with the Bucks for the past two months.

And Chambers added: "We will look to extend his loan and hopefully he is back playing in seven to 10 days. It is the same with Jake Hibbs."
