Bucks urged not to fear table-toppers

AFC Telford United have been ordered to be at their best and get in the faces of leaders Nuneaton tomorrow – as they clung on to the hope of a signing.

Assistant boss Larry Chambers is hoping last week's 3-2 defeat at then-bottom side Corby has delivered a timely jolt to the Bucks.

Telford weren't at the races as they lost their four-match unbeaten run, but Chambers is hoping the arrival of the table-toppers, who feature former £4m Villa signing Marlon Harewood, will see a return to their recent passionate performances.

"I'm hoping what happened at Corby has given us a real kick up the backside," said Chambers.

"We need to play at a high tempo and start games well, but we didn't and we were sloppy. We need to get in people's faces, be on the front foot and make it difficult for teams.

"Last week we were out of the bottom three and I don't think we applied ourselves properly against Corby.

"But tomorrow we're back at home, we're playing the top-of-the-league team and we've got to be at our best."

Chambers urged the Bucks to find their 'A' game if they are to climb out of the drop zone again.

"In our own situation, we need to be at it in every match," he said.

"If you're not at it at this level, you'll get done. That was proved last Saturday when we played the bottom side who hadn't won for 13 games."

Meanwhile, Chambers hasn't given up hope of making a signing after targeting a central midfielder and a wide man this week.

"We haven't managed to get anyone in yet but we're still trying and it's in the hands of other clubs," he said.

Captain Paul McCone (knee) and Dave Hibbert (groin) are expected to be fit after coming through training last night, while Jake Hibbs returns after suspension.
