Rob Smith set to bolster Bucks for key clash

Rob Smith has reassured AFC Telford United fans he will make two or three signings to bolster his threadbare squad this week.

Smith is confident of adding a midfielder or wide-man plus a striker and possible one more addition for Saturday's clash away to basement side Worcester City at Kidderminster's Aggborough base.

Captain Paul McCone (knee) and midfielder Jack Rea (foot) are the latest casualties after being injured in Saturday's 5-1 defeat to leaders Nuneaton.

McCone lasted just 37 minutes due to a recurrence of medial ligament damage, while Rea was hurt in the tackle that saw Shaun Byrne sent off. Telford also have Sean Clancy suspended for another two games.

"We've got a few injuries and suspensions and we were very threadbare on Saturday," said boss Smith.

"We need a couple of players for this weekend and there will definitely be two or three new ones for Saturday.

"We're close to it. We need strengthening in midfield, and we probably need strengthening everywhere because we had players on the bench not fit.

"It was pretty much that clubs involved wouldn't allow the players out last weekend but I'll be surprised if we haven't got anyone for Saturday."
