Bucks blow as skipper Paul McCone ruled out for weeks

AFC Telford United captain Paul McCone will be out for up to three weeks – as Zak Lilly was recalled from loan for a possible debut.

Bucks skipper McCone aggravated the medial knee ligaments he tweaked against FC United of Manchester two weeks ago in Saturday's 5-1 home defeat to Nuneaton. Boss Rob Smith said:

It's a massive blow because everyone can see how important he is to us but the main thing is we get him back right, so hopefully this break will be just what he needs."

Midfielder Jack Rea, Telford's other casualty from the weekend, should be OK for Saturday's bottom-two showdown away to Worcester City at Kidderminster.

Smith and assistant boss Larry Chambers met one un-named target on Monday night but talks broke up without him signing.

As Smith waits on targets, he has recalled Lilly from Sutton Coldfield after the youngster impressed on loan.

The 17-year-old one-time West Brom prospect could be in line for a surprise debut at Aggborough with Sean Clancy suspended, Izak Reid out and Johnny Gorman failing to impress.
