Chambers finds positives in 'lacklustre' AFC Telford display

Decent debuts from two new signings were small positives for AFC Telford United in their derby defeat, says assistant manager Larry Chambers.

Boss Rob Smith and Chambers went back to the market, making three signings on Friday in a bid to save the Bucks from back-to-back relegations.

But Telford were well beaten the following day, going down 3-0 to Worcester City with Chambers apologising for the performance.

Chambers praised Sam Austin and Liam Slade, saying they had shown promise in the National League North clash.

He also singled out one of the team's more regular players for praise during Telford's poor performance, which ensured the club remain bottom of the league.

"I thought the two new lads, in fairness, had decent debuts," he said.

"I think Sam Austin was probably our biggest threat.

"He looked bright and when he did get crosses in, we didn't get on the end of it.

"I think Liam for large parts of the game didn't do a lot wrong either. He gave a free-kick away that led to a goal but other than that he had a steady debut."

Chambers said full-back Dwayne Samuels was a rare bright spark for the team.

But he apologised to fans for the 'lacklustre performance' overall.
