AFC Telford supporters told to speak up

AFC Telford United fans have been urged to 'make yourself heard' so the club can start to plan its future ownership options.

Around 20 supporters – not including the Supporters Trust board – have attended the two consultation meetings held last week and Tuesday night to further explain the two proposals put to members.

Option A is to remain a supporter-owned club and Option B is to explore the possibility of selling £1,000 shares in the club up to a maximum of 300.

The club board and trust board have received opposition to the second option.

There are in excess of 450 members out of an average home gate of around 1,200, so the numbers attending the meetings have been very low.

Tonight's AGM has been postponed due to the number of emails and messages from people who haven't received information about the meeting. It will be re-arranged to take place before December 19.

And chairman Ian Dosser wants fans to speak up if they want to have a say in the future running of their club.

Dosser said: "There have been lots of opinions and lots of strong feelings expressed and we've had some emails and letters, but it's a reasonably small number.

"We haven't heard from the majority. So when it comes to the AGM, I would urge the maximum numbers of members to vote, then we'll know how they feel."

Dosser explained that even after the AGM, there are still plenty of hoops to jump through.

He added: "The AGM is simply to ask members to explore Option B more fully. Nothing can be decided then, and neither the club board and the supporters board could decide this matter.

"It's entirely up to the members. The supporters trust require a vote to discuss Option B more fully – not to sell shares at that point.

"Even then nothing is decided – the final detail would have to go to an EGM to be held within six months.

"At that it would require 50 per cent attendance of the membership and 75 per cent majority of those to vote in favour."
