The Mancunian, who almost joined the Moston outfit in the summer after a trial there, is primed for a rare start clash at Broadhurst Park.

Boss Rob Smith must make his selection amid a host of withdrawals against their fellow National North strugglers in the third qualifying round.

Telford look like being without without loanees Connor McCarthy and Jake Hibbs as their parent clubs Southport and FC Halifax respectively don't want them being cup-tied.

Mike Grogan is cup-tied, after returning from his loan at Warrington Town.

In addition, centre back Paul McCone is out and left back Darren Campion looks set to miss the game to rest an accumulation of injuries, so Kyle Brownhill is poised for a run out at left back

Right back Dwayne Samuels has shaken off a groin strain to be available.

Wilkinson is back in the frame as reward for his performances in training recently, while Burton Albion loan signings Liam Slade and Sam Austin are available.

And Wilkinson has been backed to shine by fellow midfielder Jack Rea, who said: "Greg has been one of my closest friends in football for years.

"I played with him regularly for Stalybridge for a couple of years and he's looked one of the best players in training now for a couple of weeks so, hopefully, he gets his reward."

Rea revealed harsh words have been exchanged, after the Bucks conceded 11 goals in three games to plunge themselves back into trouble.

He said: "Sometimes the truth has to be said which some people don't like, but it's happened and now it's up to us to respond."

Rea acknowledges Telford's main focus is survival but believes a cup run could boost their league form.

He said: "Our main priority is the league but we can gain some momentum by winning in the trophy."
