Bucks allow Ryan Rowe out to build up sharpness

AFC Telford striker Ryan Rowe has joined Midland League side Lye Town to get some game time.

The former Kidderminster Harriers striker has fallen down the pecking order at the New Bucks Head, where he is behind John Cofie, Dave Hibbert and on-loan Connor McCarthy – who have all started in a three-pronged attack for the last two games – plus new signing Josh Wilson.

Rowe, who is with Telford on a non-contract basis, hasn't figured in the last two Bucks squads and made the last of 16 appearances – but only four starts – as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat to AFC Fylde on January 30.

Lye joint-manager Darren Goodall lives in Telford and played under Bucks managers Rob Smith and Larry Chambers when they were in charge at Willenhall.

Goodall said: "We've taken Ryan with a view to giving him some game time because he hasn't played much recently.

"He texted me out of the blue and I asked him if he was looking for games and he said 'yes' and that he's been given the blessing from Larry to play for us.

"We're doing Ryan a favour but he's doing one for us because we've got a very young team and he's brought a bit of experience, which has helped us."

Goodall ruled out anything more permanent than Rowe playing a few games however.

"If Ryan wants to play for Lye to the end of the season, it's not going to happen," said Goodall.
