AFC Telford boss' health is also at stake!

Passionate boss Rob Smith has urged AFC Telford United's defenders to cut out the individual errors – claiming they are trying to give him a heart attack.

After struggling for goals all season, the Bucks have hit a scoring streak of eight in two games to breathe new life into their National League North survival hopes.

But they have also conceded seven in those two games, including five in the thrilling 5-5 draw at Stalybridge last weekend.

With finances tight, Smith is unlikely to enter the market for a defender.

And, in any case, reckons the players at his disposal are more than good enough, if they can learn from their mistakes.

The manager, as he prepared for tomorrow's home game with Chorley, said: "Survival is at stake, but finances are at stake as well.

"I don't think it is individuals. Curtis (Tilt) had a great game at Alfreton on Tuesday while Darren Campion has done better.

"Dwayne (Samuels) had a chance to put the ball up the line and out of danger before their second. It was a poor pass and, before we know it, the ball is in the net.

"Even at the end, when we were winning 3-2 Lucas (Dawson) has a chance to clear his lines, but we seem intent on giving me heart attacks!

"We have got to learn and got to learn quickly. One thing you can't knock is the spirit, that is what is pleasing me."

Telford know a win could be enough to lift them out of the relegation zone.

Striker Josh Wilson will be looking to continue his streak after netting four in the last two games, including a brace in Tuesday's vital win at Alfreton.

Smith said: "We have just scored eight goals in two games and we scored five against FC United last month.

"The fact we are scoring goals in games is giving us a chance because we are still not keeping clean sheets."
