Rob Smith: Telford are starting to believe

Telford boss Rob Smith says his players are 'full of confidence' going into Saturday's National League North clash with Harrogate Town.

The Bucks will make the trip to North Yorkshire, fresh from a 2-0 victory over Chorley on Saturday in which John Cofie and Lucas Dawson found the net.

Harrogate are second in the table, but did not play at the weekend due to a waterlogged pitch at Nuneaton, while Telford are 19th, just outside the relegation places on goal difference.

Having gained seven points from a possible nine though, Smith has said his players are now believing in themselves more, but is aware of the challenge ahead.

"The lads have really come together," he said.

"The club seems to have come together, we're out the bottom three and the objective now is to stay out of it.

"I think the win at Alfreton was massive for confidence. I have felt a different buzz, the players are believing they can win games of football which is a massive thing.

"I've warned them we have been here before. We have been out of it, and then dropped back in, so we have to make sure we stay out.

"We couldn't ask for a tougher game, but we can go there full of confidence and the pressure will be on Harrogate."

Forwards Connor McCarthy and John Cofie, as well as attacking midfielder Josh Wilson, have all scored in recent games and Smith has been impressed with their efforts.

Izak Reid also came off the bench against Chorley, while Dave Hibbert was an unused substitute after a injury lay-off, and the boss thinks they will all have a part to play between now and the end of the season.

"The front three, the movement of them they (Chorley) couldn't really cope with," added Smith.

"We have got Dave Hibbert fit as well, and Izak (Reid) to come on so we have got really good attacking options."
