Saturday's 1-0 win at high-flying Harrogate Town came with fans' favourite Mike Grogan emerging as the unlikely hero.

It leaves the Bucks unbeaten in four league games, registering consecutive clean sheets for the first time this season.

The three points in North Yorkshire may has moved Smith's men up to 17th, but the Telford chief is determined to remain firm with his charges, even refusing them a day off training.

Smith said: "The one thing that can kill you in this game is complacency. You have a bad couple of games and you're back in it.

"We've strived so hard to get in this position now, we really were dead and buried and we're going to keep grafting.

"They're saying 'can we have the night off on Tuesday?' No we can't, we're going to work, and we'll work hard on Thursday. "

Relegation rivals Corby are next up for Telford. The boss also provided an update on defender Graham Hutchison.

The Halifax Town loanee was substituted off for Grogan midway through the opening half at Wetherby Road.

It was the first game this season that Grogan had played more than 45 minutes of football, after a stop-start campaign disrupted by injuries and falling out of favour.

Smith added on Hutchison: "He felt his Achilles in the warm-up and then it went again in the game. I'm not sure how serious it is at the moment so we'll have a look at it in the week.

"We are short on numbers, but I'm really enjoying working with this group."

The Bucks leapfrogged both Brackley Town and FC United of Manchester into 17th, while Corby Town and Hednesford Town – 22nd and 21st respectively – both picked up draws.
