Johnny Gorman backed to revive Telford career

Winger Johnny Gorman has been backed to revive his AFC Telford United career after returning from his loan spell at Colwyn Bay.

The 23-year-old's month was interrupted by a groin injury which limited him to three appearances for the Evo-Stik Northern League Premier Division side.

It remains to be seen what sort of welcome Gorman will receive back at the New Bucks Head.

Before his loan, the former Wolves and Northern Ireland wide man had been banished from the squad by manager Rob Smith along with midfielder Greg Wilkinson.

And since he was blocked from training with the Bucks and then sent out on loan, Telford's results have improved significantly.

But Colwyn Bay manager Kevin Lynch believes Gorman's attitude and talent could put him back in favour.

Lynch said: "Johnny is a fantastic talent and a great lad who didn't cause us any problems.

"We'd loved to have extended his stay but the problem we have is we're up to capacity with loans so we can't extend it.

"But I think he's more than capable of getting back into the Telford team and doing well.

"Coming to us, has done him the world of good and we wish him all the best and thank Telford for allowing him to come on loan. I've told him I'd love to work with him again.

"He was great to work with and played two good games – the only problem was he missed a few matches with an injury so he had a spluttering start.

"But he hasn't missed a training session and I think he's got a great attitude. He was a credit to himself and represented both himself and Telford very well."

Gorman made his debut with a full 90 minutes in a 5-4 Doodson Cup penalty shoot-out win against Trafford when he scored one of the spot-kicks after the tie ended 1-1.

He played another full game in a 4-0 defeat against Barwell and was substituted after 56 minutes of a 2-0 loss against Whitby.
