Graham Hutchison back in AFC Telford running

AFC Telford United could make another signing as boss Rob Smith looks to stave off the threat of relegation – as Graham Hutchison returned to contention.

The Bucks have turned their season around with four straight wins, three consecutive clean sheets and a five-match unbeaten run.

Smith welcomes back Hutchison from a sore Achilles this weekend after being forced to play central midfielder Mike Grogan at the heart of the defence alongside Curtis Tilt.

And he indicated he wants to strengthen his squad further in the countdown to the Easter double-header, with Tamworth at home on Saturday and Brackley away on Monday.

Smith said: "Groges has taken his chance and Hutch will be fit for this weekend, which is good.

"But I think we need to add to the squad for the run-in – the deadline is this week.

"I thought the first-half performance from us on Saturday was dreadful and I'm not having that again and the lads know that, so we didn't see too many cheering after the game."

John Cofie will be fit for the weekend despite coming off with a hamstring twinge in Saturday's 3-0 win against Corby.

The Telford boss said: "I told him if he could feel it, not to let it 'go.' He made the right decision, Dave Hibbert is fit so we got him on but I think John will be OK for this weekend."

Smith also hailed his side for handling the pressure of being expected to win for a change.

He said: "We were favourites for what I think was the first time since I've been here, which is nice in one way but it gives a different sort of pressure.

"But the lads managed the game well. It wasn't our best performance, but it's about results at this stage."

Defensive strongman Tilt has been in excellent form and Smith paid tribute to the giant defender.

He said: "Compared to what he was doing before, what 'Curt' is doing now he's doing it every game. He's consistent, he'smy type of player and I love him."
