Three first-half goals from striker Akwasi Asante sealed the Bucks' fate who had a disappointing day at the New Bucks Head.

The home side battled to get back into the game in the second half but could not find a way back in.

Both teams started energetically in the first-half but the Bucks quickly found themselves a goal down, after striker Akwasi Asante found the net from inside the box.

Andy Brown stole the ball off goalkeeper James Montgomery, before teeing off the striker who fired at a seemingly open goal.

Darren Campion looked to pull off a heroic last ditched save off the line with his feet, but the referee deemed the ball had crossed the line.

Montgomery pulled a good save to tip over a header from a Solihull free kick but gifted Asante a golden opportunity to make it 2-0.

The Bucks No 1 saved a header from the resulting corner but dropped the ball, and Asante responded quickest to fire the ball low into the net.

Telford looked stunned in the aftermath but cranked up the pressure on the visitors later on to try and get back into the game.

Wilson struck a well taken free-kick outside Solihull's box where his shot looked goal bound for the bottom right, but the visiting defenders blocked the effort well.

The rain began to lightly pour down over the New Bucks Head and McCarthy took his chance well to get a goal back but just struck wide.

He met a volley with the outside of his foot in the box but whisked it shy of the left post.

Tilt found Wynter in acres of space on the edge of Solihull's box after a great darting run down the right flank, but Wynter could only side-foot his shot over the bar.

Solihull had a goal disallowed in extra time after Montgomery was fouled in the box whilst grasping the ball, which found its way into the net.

But Asante struck his third goal in almost the last action of the first-half, with a cool clean side-footed finish into the bottom right of the goal.

The goal came at a crucial for Solihull on the strike of half time. Captain Jack Rea had the first real chance for the Bucks in the second-half, but skied his shot from outside the box.

Izak Reid replaced Dave Hibbert who had a relative quite game, before Rea nearly found the top right with a well taken side-footed effort.

Tilt came off for Hutchison, with the former putting in a good energetic and defensive display.

Hutchison was soon in action after coming on when Montgomery saved well from a one-on-one chance with goal scorer Asante, clearing the ball away from the goal.

Samuels could have got on the score sheet with his fierce effort, but goalkeeper Danny Lewis reached well high to save.

Samuels' low strike took a huge deflection off the leg of the Solihull defender and nearly lobbed the goalkeeper.

Darryl Knights swung in a dangerous looking free kick for Solihull, in the later stages of the second-half, which tested Montgomery.

He rose high to collect the ball but dropped it, before scrambling to reclaim it.

This game looked to be a real test for Telford - who were playing the league leaders and were the last team that the Bucks had lost to.

The result ends an impressive run of form for Telford United, which saw boss Rob Smith named Manager of the Month in the Vanarama National League North league for March.
