Josh Wilson wants to stay at AFC Telford

Free-scoring midfielder Josh Wilson insists his future is with AFC Telford United – because of the influence of boss Rob Smith and No 2 Larry Chambers.

The attacking midfielder, 27, joined the New Bucks Head from AFC Fylde in February.

He was an important catalyst in the Bucks' miraculous revival after they looked doomed.

Wilson, who captained the Bucks in the final day defeat at Chorley, finished as the club's joint-top scorer, finding the net seven times.

The former Vauxhall Motors man is likely to be hot property in the summer, but is ready to commit himself to the Bucks.

He declared: "Yes, I've thought about next season and you never know what is around the corner – but I'd be more than happy to stay.

"I'm going to speak with Rob and Larry and if they want me then I'll be happy to do so.

"I'm used to playing at the top end of the table. I think for the last five seasons I've been going for the play-offs and titles.

"That was another part of the conversation with Rob and Larry – that's what they want to do next year.

"Hopefully we can get things done sooner rather than later and get looking forward to next season."

Smith and Chambers will be using the next month for talking with current members of his squad – while also scouting possible additions to the Bucks playing staff.

And Wilson admitted that the management set-up at the Bucks Head is unlike anything he has played under previously in the game.

He added: "They (Rob and Larry) just have an incredible relationship with the players. For me, that's one of the most important things in football.

"They make you want to go out and fight for them – I certainly do and I know the rest of the players do.

"They get you up for the game and you look forward to coming into training – you're just happy to be around the place. It's a pleasure to play underneath them."
