Telford sign Hurst and keep Dawson

AFC Telford United today announced they have captured free agent winger James Hurst - while retaining midfielder Lucas Dawson for another season.

Hurst finished the season on loan at Telford's league rivals Guiseley, as he saw out his contract with National League Premier side Torquay United.

He was sold to the Seagulls by Hednesford Town last summer for a fee, with the 24-year-old having dropped down from the Football League.

The Sutton Coldfield born utility man is versatile and can also play either as a full-back or up front. He's been capped by England up to Under-20 level.

He is a product of the West Bromwich Albion academy and played one first-team game for the Baggies, in a 2010 League Cup quarter-final against Ipswich.

He's also made appearances for Blackpool, Shrewsbury Town, Chesterfield, Birmingham City, Crawley and Northampton, plus a spell in Iceland for Valur.

Dawson, meanwhile, has become the third player of the Bucks' squad from the just-gone National League North campaign to commit to a further year's deal.

The former Stoke City youngster, 22, will remain at the New Bucks Head alongside defender Dwayne Samuels and goalkeeper James Montgomery, who are also staying.
