Former Kidderminster Harriers man Gittings, 30, reached agreement with manager Rob Smith yesterday afternoon and was due to sign the paperwork today.

One-time Wolves academy scholar Gittings has left National League North champions Solihull Moors after one season which he finished on loan at Leamington.

Known as 'MJ', 20-year-old former Droylsden and Skelmersdale midfielder Monaghan is leaving Burscough, where he scored 22 goals last season.

"I didn't realise Callum was 30 because he looks about 21 but he has a lot of experience," said boss Rob Smith.

"He's a lovely footballer but he's not afraid to put a foot in. He's a good height and if he's on his game, he's a very good player.

"He turned down clubs in our league and a couple in the division above so we're delighted to get him."

Smith will assess highly-rated Monaghan in pre-season to see if he is ready to challenge for a first-team place.

"MJ played with Connor McCarthy at Skelmersdale then went to Burscough last season and we have a link there with Liam Blakeman, their assistant manager, who played for me at Telford," said the boss.

"There were a couple of clubs from our level interested in him so I'm delighted to sign him."
