Danny Reynolds backed to excite AFC Telford

Lee Fowler has backed team-mate Danny Reynolds to be a crowd pleaser for AFC Telford United next season.

Reynolds is the Bucks' latest capture, signing a one-year deal following his release from National League Premier side Wrexham.

The 19-year-old attacker is well known to Fowler, who was with the youngster at the Red Dragons last season.

And the experienced midfielder believes Reynolds will prove a hit with the Telford faithful in the No 10 role.

Reynolds made two appearances for Wrexham as a 16-year-old in 2013-14 before loan spells with Rugby Town and Colwyn Bay.

Fowler said: "Danny should excite the fans, especially if we give him time to develop.

"He came with us (first team) quite a few times last season and technically he's very good. He's a very good player who likes to run with the ball.

"He's got a lot of ability and he's a very forward-thinking player who likes to get on the ball and can see a pass.

"He might have been a little bit young for Wrexham in terms of making that transition from the youth-team to the first-team.

"But that's the transition he has to make himself in all aspects of his game.

"There was a young lad Jonny Smith who's just gone from Wrexham to Bristol City and I remember telling him that it's not just ability.

"You have to work hard off the ball, as well, and that's what Danny will do."

Manager Rob Smith has drafted in Reynolds to be an attacking option after losing John Cofie and Connor McCarthy plus wingers Izak Reid and Sean Clancy.

Fowler believes Reynolds's best position is in the No 10 role. He said: "When Danny has trained with us, that was where he tended to play.

"He's more of a withdrawn striker and you wouldn't put him to lead your line because of his age."

And the ex-Coventry and Huddersfield man believes Reynolds will compete for a starting place. Fowler added: "He's got all the ability."
