In the summer of 2010, the 24-year-old right-back played 16 games on loan from Portsmouth with IBV under Heimir Hallgrimsson, who helped mastermind the shock 2-1 win.

Hallgrimsson is now preparing Iceland to take on France in the quarter-finals on Sunday. He will take sole charge of the team after the tournament is over.

Former West Brom youngster Hurst took to social media to show his support of his one-time coach.

Meanwhile, recent Telford striker John Cofie has signed for National League Premier side Southport.

The 23-year-old former Manchester United FA Youth Cup winner, who scored five goals in 22 games for the Bucks in National North last term, joins Connor McCarthy at Haig Avenue.

McCarthy, who finished as Telford's eight-goal top scorer after featuring in two loan spells there, signed a one-year deal with the Sandgrounders yesterday.

Cofie was delighted to team up with him again, adding: "When I spoke to the manager earlier in the week, Connor texted me to say 'I knew we were going to play together this year'!"
