Winger Micah Evans and central midfielder Joe Fitzpatrick were the two previously unheard of figures in the Bucks line-up .

Both featured during a makeshift second-half line-up. The only new recruit unable to get some minutes during the 2-1 victory was James Hurst.

The former Portsmouth and West Bromwich Albion man, who can play in a number of positions, has been struggling with a groin problem since sealing his move to the New Bucks Head.

But Smith confirmed the knock was worse than originally feared, saying: "With Hursty it looks like he needs an operation on his groin, which is a real disappointment.

"It's not something that's too bad, we're looking at two or three weeks from the operation and, hopefully, and we'll get him in (on the op) this week."

Former Blackburn Rovers academy man Evans actually featured against Telford on the final day of last season for Chorley.

He caught the eye during an impressive second-half cameo in North Wales, adding: "We've got one area left in the squad to have a look at and that's a winger.

"Micah is on trial and his attitude is superb."
