Relief for AFC Telford as Rea injury fears are eased
AFC Telford United injury fears have been eased as Jack Rea could make a recovery for next week's visit of AFC Fylde.
The midfielder, who finished last season as skipper, suffered a first-half knee problem against Market Drayton last weekend – igniting fears it could be a recurring injury.
The 24-year-old missed all of last pre-season after knee surgery and staff were concerned after Rea broke down.
But after being checked over by the club's physio, Chambers provided a welcome update.
"We don't think it's too serious, but Jack will probably need 7-10 days minimum to recover," he said.
"It's badly bruised, and that's better news than we thought. Whether he'll be ready for the start of the season next week is tough and go."
After Rea admitted he felt uncomfortable, Chambers – overseeing the side while Rob Smith is on holiday – opted to omit him from Tuesday's defeat against Wrexham.
Chambers and Smith have been pleased with the attitude of the squad over the summer, but additions still remain possible.
"You want to see good attitudes, a hunger and a desire and we've shown that, we've had a good work ethic," Chambers said. "We're probably short in one or two positions but not to the point where we're desperately going to take in anybody, we'll wait for the right person to come in."
