Josh Wilson doesn't regret Telford move

The 28-year-old forward made the switch from the Coasters to the Bucks in January.

And his performances and goals were two of the main reasons behind Telford's successful battle against the drop.

Big-spending Fylde have made their intentions clear by turning full-time this summer.

They have snapped up 22-goal hotshot Brendon Daniels from Harrogate, as well as persuading Danny Rowe to stay amid interest from the Football League.

But for Wilson, who works as a gas fitter in Liverpool, it's about more than assembling the best squad on paper in National League North.

He said: "I'm sure it would be good to play in that team, but I was at the point where I wanted to enjoy my football and play in front of big crowds in a good atmosphere.

"That was something Fylde couldn't offer. So the chance to play in the big games was what I wanted and I think I've shown this is where I want to be in my performances.

"I had a chat with the staff here and we're confident about going under the radar.

"Rob and Larry (Smith and Chambers, boss and assistant) share the same belief that we can get to the top end of the table and we're happy to work together towards that.

"I was delighted with the names we've brought in over the summer and to bond with them and play with them has given me added confidence for the season.

"In pre-season, the results haven't always been there, because of the quality of the opposition.

"The performances and application have been brilliant, so it's a massive step forwards from last season."

Wilson admits he would love nothing more than to score against his previous club – apart from win the game.

He said: "I'm going to put a huge amount of pressure on myself to get on the score-sheet, but the result is more important and to get off to the right start."

Smith's side start against the second favourites for the title, after Halifax, before travelling to FC United of Manchester on Tuesday.

However, Wilson is happy to kick off against two of the division's many bigger guns.

He said: "We couldn't have asked for a tougher start – Fylde are one of the favourites and rightly so with the players they've got.

"FC United is probably the most intimidating atmosphere. You can look at it both ways but I'm happy to have these games now and I'm optimistic about picking up points."
