Josh Wilson tipped to fire up AFC Telford

Striker Josh Wilson has been tipped to get AFC Telford United's season off to a flying start against old club Fylde tomorrow.

The Bucks saw off competition from several clubs this summer to keep the 28-year-old.

The talisman is seen as one of the main men as Rob Smith's side look for a major improvement on last season's relegation battle.

Assistant boss Larry Chambers believes Wilson will be keen to remind his old team of his capabilities at the Bucks Head.

Chambers said: "Josh had a massive impact on the side last season and he'll want to hit the ground running.

"He's played for a lot of clubs with Vauxhall Motors, Halifax and Guiseley in the past, so I don't know what it means for him to face Fylde.

"But he's a professional and I'm sure he'll be focused on giving his all. As a player you want to do well against your old clubs."

Fylde have been made second favourites for the National League North title after Halifax.

And Chambers feel their tag is justified after finishing third and losing the play-off final to North Ferriby last term.

He said: "They've taken the step this year to go full-time so everything is in place to give it a go.

"Their chairman has backed them like Fleetwood were backed and, in the long term they're looking to emulate the success they've had.

"I you take that into account, everything is set up."

Fylde have boosted their chances by signing Brendon Daniels from Harrogate on a three-year deal.

He scored 22 goals last season to be the division's second top scorer.

Chambers said: "Brendon catches the eye and on his day he's a match-winner but, fitness-wise, we're in good shape and we'll have a plan."

Telford wait on midfielder Jack Rea (twisted knee) but Chambers believes they can cover his potential absence.

He said: "Jack plays a different role to the others but we're blessed with a number of options.

"We have 'MJ' (Michael Monaghan) and Lucas Dawson, who we consider good players with their own qualities."
