Luca Havern: Play without fear Telford

Captain Luca Havern has urged AFC Telford to show no fear at FC United of Manchester tonight.

Broadhurst Park has a reputation as the noisiest ground in National League North and will no doubt be rocking to the tune of more than 3,000 United fans for their first home game of the season, writes Tim Nash.

United, who drew 3-3 at Chorley on Saturday, will also be gunning for revenge after losing three times to the Bucks last term. But Havern wants Telford to take the game to the hosts as they did in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to AFC Fylde.

"We're going to a good stadium and they'll naturally be up for it but we've got to take the positives from Saturday – especially the second-half performance – and get right on the front foot," said the skipper.

"We showed on Saturday we're more than capable of creating chances and look solid. So I think we've got to go there and play with no fear and hope we get the right result."

Havern is one of two Mancunians in the Telford squad with Tom Peers while they have three Scousers in Sean Williams, Michael Monaghan and Josh Wilson. And the Bucks skipper believes the Liverpool-Manchester rivalry will help against FC United..

"We've got a lively bunch of Scousers in there so I'm sure there will be (an extra incentive)," he said.

"But it's about Telford and getting the right result. It's more of a home game for me and there's going to be a lot of them this season!

"I think any game has spice really because of the league we're in."

Havern was one of 11 summer signings but believes they have knitted together quickly.

"Fylde have been talked about (as favourites to go up) and before the game there was a lot of talk about them but the boys showed what we're about," he said.

"We're just worrying about ourselves. We showed on Saturday how hard we can work.

"We were all gutted to lose, but we're all together and I hope that was shown on the pitch."

Assistant boss Larry Chambers has urged Telford to discover a cutting edge after missing chances at the weekend.

Havern is convinced they will convert their opportunities, adding: "Definitely – we had four or five clear-cut chances against the favourites for the league, so it will come.

"We had a few chances where we need to be more ruthless.

"I also think we were unlucky not to get a penalty.
