Hibbert: We owe the supporters a victory

The Bucks are yet to win away from home in the National North this season and lost 3-1 at Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday.

Gloucester, who play at Cheltenham Town's Whaddon Road ground, are going into the clash with confidence after a 5-0 win against Altrincham, writes JOE EDWARDS.

On the result in Lincolnshire on Saturday, Hibbert said: "We shot ourselves in the foot.

"As good as were against Kidderminster last week in terms of our work ethic, being ruthless and not giving them chances, Gainsborough looked like going through and scoring all the time.

"It was a big game against Kidderminster with a decent crowd but if we really want to kick on we should be going to places like Gainsborough and doing better.

"It's as simple as that. We are all very disappointed and we let the fans down who travelled there."

It went from bad to worse for Rob Smith's charges at Northolme.

Jordan Thewlis opened the scoring for the hosts, despite James Montgomery saving a penalty and a follow-up seconds before.

Ashley Worsfold then added two more, either side of Josh Wilson's goal, to seal a deserved defeat.

Wilson limped off with a hamstring injury and Ben Bailey was sent off for two bookable offences – the first being a foul for the penalty on Thewlis, and the second being another late challenge on the Trinity striker.

"For me, it was a dubious penalty and it looked like their striker went down very easily," said Hibbert.

"Monty has saved it the first time and saved it again so we should be following it in.

"He would have got us out of jail there but we did not switch on and those small details cost you.

"We went 2-0 down, got back in it with a great bit of work by Danny Reynolds but then we went down to 10 men – Josh is struggling with a hamstring injury.

"We then went down to nine men with Ben Bailey getting sent off, and it was always going to be a struggle after that."

Hibbert replaced Callum Gittings at half-time but picked up a knock to his knee in the closing stages of the game.

Smith rated him as a doubt for tonight's game but Hibbert said: "I'll be alright.

"It's frustrating and I am just desperately disappointed with the result at Gainsborough.

"We should be going there and doing better than that.

"We didn't really look like penetrating them in the first half and in the second half they countered us and looked like going through at regular intervals.

"We should be doing better, everyone included. It was not good enough."

Darren Campion is also a major doubt for the game tonight.

Although Telford face taking on Gloucester without four players through injuries and suspensions, Hibbert is counting on the squad to pull together and give their all in order to get a positive result.

"Fortunately, we have got the Gloucester game now to look forward to," he added.

"It is going to be another tough game but hopefully we can put it right.

"We need to pull together and make sure we put in a performance the fans deserve, and get a result the fans deserve."
