Joshua Cooke told to build up Telford fitness level

AFC Telford boss Rob Smith has told forward Joshua Cooke to 'go out and get some games.'

The 19-year-old was signed on a non-contract basis prior to the 3-0 loss to Gloucester City a couple of weeks ago.

He came on as a late substitute in that game, was introduced from the bench at Worcester City in the FA Cup and was unused substitute for the replay.

The striker, who left Swindon in the summer and had loan spells at the likes of Staines Town, Cheltenham Town and Gloucester, did not make the squad for the home game against Chorley on Saturday.

On his situation, Smith said: "What we have basically said to Josh is to go out and get some games.

"We told him to go elsewhere to work on his fitness as he has not played a lot of football in all fairness.

"He was not up to the level of fitness needed for us so we have told him to go out and get some games and we will have a look at him.

"He turned out for AFC Wulfrunians (in the Midland Premier) at the weekend so we will continue to monitor his progress and see where he is. I expect everyone else in the squad to be at training tonight."

Tonight will be Telford's first training session since the game at the weekend as they did not train on Tuesday night.

Smith added: "We have had a pretty intense time since pre-season, the games have been coming thick and fast so that is why we gave the lads the night off."
