AFC Telford will be boosted by Liz Allsopp appointment

Allsopp joined the ranks at the New Bucks Head after spending two seasons in a similar position at League One outfit Walsall.

She replaces Lee Griffiths, who spent just three months at the club, at a crucial time as the Bucks move forward off the field in a bid to raise desperately need funds to keep the club afloat.

Allsopp, who has also worked as a business development manager for an events company, picks up from the work continued by the Trust Board and general manager Sharon Bowyer.

In a statement, Allsopp said: "I'm delighted to have joined a club such as AFC Telford United and am looking forward to starting a new challenge and developing the links throughout the business community."

Dosser added that the new addition's local experience will play an important part in bringing success off the field.

He said: "We welcome Liz Allsopp to AFC Telford United, her relatively local experience in the football sector will be invaluable to us.

"We are confident that Liz can address the gap in our commercial income and attract new sponsorship."

Another section of Allsopp's duties will be to continue with the relationships build between the Bucks and current sponsors Capgemini, Pryce Builders, University of Wolverhampton, Shropshire Electrical Supplies (home shorts) and Choice Lighting (away shorts).

Meanwhile, Bucks boss Rob Smith has praised young midfielder Alfie Crooks for his influence in tranining.

The former Villa trainee has signed non-contract forms at the Bucks Head and joins up with Smith's squad as they look to continue up the National League North.

The 21-year-old impressed Smith and assistant Larry Chambers and supporters after coming on for the final stages of Saturday's memorable victory over FC United of Manchester.

Smith said: "He was training with Birmingham and came through the same Villa team as Jack Grealish.

"We were really impressed with him in training so he's signed forms and we think he'll do well for us.

"We had a phone call from Richard Beale (Blues Under-21 boss) about him.

"He fits what we're able to get at the moment in terms of youngsters on loan or on non-contract."
