Bernard McNally: AFC Telford ownership move a step in the right direction

It was a big night in the history of AFC Telford United on Monday with the proposals to change their club model from a fan-owned club, writes Bernard McNally.

But I was quite pleased with the outcome for them. It allows someone to come in and really steer the ship forward at New Bucks Head.

Hopefully they can raise more money, it's been tremendous what the fans have done to keep the club going, but it's a step in the right direction.

Telford's a big club, they do need somebody with a bit of clout with a view to maybe take them where they used to be not so long ago – that's what the end aim can be.

For Rob Smith's side to pick up two wins and bouncing up the league to 12th like they have says a lot about the leagues at this time of year.

If you can nick a couple of wins on the bounce then suddenly the whole world seems a happier place for you and that's certainly the same for Telford. That breeds confidence and then you can start to get the self-belief and string more results together.

They're looking in a much more favourable position than what they were three weeks ago.
