AFC Telford won't take Salford City for granted says Larry Chambers
AFC Telford United assistant boss Larry Chambers insists the side will not take Salford City's underwhelming run for granted ahead of the clash at the New Bucks Head.
The Bucks are fresh off of back-to-back victories and are four games unbeaten in the National League North, while the Ammies have gone seven games without registering a win in the league.
Telford are two places and five points below the visitors and on the game, Chambers said: "I think they were one of the pre-season favourites for promotion.
"Of course, they were promoted from the division below last season and they had a good start.
"It is going to be a tough game for us. Salford are on a bit of a winless run but it looks like they have been a bit unlucky recently, really.
"They have assembled a squad full of quality players who have plenty of experience."
Salford have three former Telford players in Simon Grand, Mike Phenix and Jack Deaman.
Grand and Phenix were instrumental as the Bucks won the National League North title in the 2013/14 season while Deaman played for the club in the first half of last season.
"They have got plenty of depth, in every position, and they have players who have played for the likes of Fylde and Barrow," said Chambers.
"They have players who know what it takes at this level, who have managed to get promoted from this league as well, so we know it is a big test."
Chambers is hoping Josh Wilson and Dave Hibbert will be fit for the clash against the side who are now known nationally due to the Class of '92: Out of Their League documentary.
Wilson was an unused substitute at Altrincham after being hampered by a back injury while Hibbert has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury.
On the pair, Chambers said: "We are hopeful they will be available as they are big players for us. It will be a boost if they are back for the game."
Wilson's injury last weekend forced Telford into using a 5-3-2 formation, which paid dividends as they won 2-0.
When asked if it could be implemented again, Chambers said: "Possibly. We introduced it as it was forced upon us but it is something we would not be afraid to use again."
Meanwhile, Telford are currently in discussions with Walsall over extending the loan of Jordan Sangha.
