Telford legend Steve Palmer has praised the current crop of players for their resilience and not using off-field matters as 'an excuse.'

The Bucks were going into today's National League North game against Class of '92-owned Salford City with confidence after back-to-back victories.

Hall of Fame member Palmer, who served under Telford's previous and current guises, believes both the players and management deserve credit for pulling off results in a period of financial uncertainty.

"I was only thinking the other week when they played FC United of Manchester at home, all the attention was on what was happening off-the-pitch," he said.

"The players could have used everything that was going on as an excuse.

"There was a lot of pressure on them to produce on that day so credit to them for not using all that was happening as a cop out.

"Going up to Altrincham last weekend, that was a great result as well so they are not using the financial situation as an excuse."

Palmer, who manages Midland Premier outfit AFC Wulfrunians, regularly keeps in contact with Telford boss Rob Smith and assistant Larry Chambers.

"There is so much going on so I am very pleased for them," he said. "I never have a bad word to say about Rob and Larry but the players have done a lot as well over the last few weeks."
