AFC Telford expect to complete Joe Fitzpatrick signing

AFC Telford United are expecting to complete the signing of 'impressive' Worcester City midfielder Joe Fitzpatrick in a bid to bolster numbers.

The Bucks were heading into the clash with Boston United with just 14 fit and available players, with two of those – Jon Royle and Ben Bailey – having missed training previously through injury.

But defensive-minded midfielder Fitzpatrick, 19, is set to check in from National League North rivals Worcester City on non-contract terms.

Boss Rob Smith is excited by the potential that the former Mansfield youth product brings.

He featured for the Bucks as a trialist in pre-season and left an impression on the Telford chief.

"We signed five or six other midfielders in the summer so there was simply no room for Joe," said Smith.

"But I was really impressed. He's good technically and we've done well to get somebody of his ilk."

Fans' favourite Dwayne Samuels is expected to return at right-back tomorrow in the absence of James Hurst (suspended).
