Originally signed on a three-month loan deal by Rob Smith in September to cover for the injured Jack Rea, the 22-year-old former Wrexham pro hailed the reception handed to him by the Bucks faithful.

With results tough to come by in recent weeks – Royle actually made his debut in the memorable 1-0 victory against Kidderminster Harriers – the midfielder wants to help drag the Bucks from the league's depths and haul them forward to better times.

"I'm happy now and all settled," said the Mold-based former Southport man. "It's all about getting the results for us now.

"Rob and Larry (Chambers) have been great with me so far. I've got nothing but praise for them.

"They were happy to have me and that's what I wanted, to play football. I was playing a bit for Southport under Andy Bishop but then he got sacked.

"I'm enjoying it now after finding it hard to get going for five or six games. I'm ready to get my head down and get these supporters what they deserve – which is to be higher up the league.

"The New Bucks Head is unbelievable and the fans showed what they can do in the FC United of Manchester game. The atmosphere was brilliant."

Tomorrow the Bucks welcome another well-supported phoenix side, Darlington 1883, born out of the demise of former Football League outfit DarlingtonFC.

Telford have plenty of history against Darlington too, with a historic 3-0 win during the teams' meeting in the 1984-85 FA Cup fourth round one of the stand out memories.

Darlo, having enjoyed promotion last term, are currently second and Royle is looking forward to a similar crowd and atmosphere as to that against fan-owned FC United.

Telford sit 16th, five points clear of the bottom three but having lost their last two in the dying moments.

"The 1,800 got behind us and were brilliant," he added.

"It's a game of football and we don't fear anybody. We're not afraid.

"Last Saturday against Worcester we played some of the best football we've played so far.

"We're just awaiting that bit of luck, but it's also about our concentration. We're definitely looking forward and not below us."
