John-Paul Kissock has thanked the AFC Telford United fans for a fine welcome and believes the side has enough quality to be 'a lot higher in the table'.

The wiry 26-year-old midfielder joined the club on a short-term loan from Ebbsfleet United last Friday and was named man of the match as the Bucks beat Darlington 2-0 at home on Saturday.

On his debut, Kissock said: "The fans were great. I really appreciate the welcome they gave me – it really helps you.

"You can see the quality in the lads and there is a real togetherness in the squad, which is clear to see. If you work hard then the quality shines through and that was the case on Saturday.

"From what I have seen so far, I don't think Telford should be where they are and there is enough there to be a lot higher in the table."

Kissock, a product of Everton's academy, has had spells at Southport, Luton Town and Macclesfield Town. Fans of the Silkmen referred to him as the 'non-league Lionel Messi'.

Ebbsfleet, who play in the National League South, were keen to let Kissock move closer to his Liverpool home on a temporary basis.

Telford boss Rob Smith and assistant Larry Chambers admitted a lot of effort went into bringing him in.

"I just want to help Rob and Larry, and the players while I am here," said Kissock.

"I want to try to do my bit. Rob and Larry are really good coaches and I was really impressed from the first training session in terms of how much quality there is here."

Kissock believes the win against Darlington, who are now third in the National League North, proved the amount of quality that is in the squad.

"I think they have been a bit unlucky in terms of results recently," he added. "You have got Luca (Havern) at the back, Josh (Wilson) up there and Dave Hibbert as well – the two of them are a good match.

"The defence is solid and there is a good blend between the three of us in midfield as well. Jonathan (Royle) and Jack (Rea) have impressed me as well. As I say, there is a lot of quality there."
