Larry Chambers delighted with professional AFC Telford performance

Connor McCarthy opened the scoring after the hour mark, as he pounced to prod the ball home from a corner.

Josh Wilson put the gloss on a deserved victory with a stunning strike from 25 yards.

AFC Telford assistant Larry Chambers expressed his delight with the victory. He said: "The plan was to come here and apply ourselves professionally, and it is a decent result.

"I don't think they caused us too many problems, the first half was an even game, the back four including Monty looked after them (Ramsbottom strikers Sedden and Salmon) and it is always great to keep a clean sheet."

The game almost got called off at the 11th hour, with the referee unhappy about a smattering of ice on the flanks.

Chambers admits he was bemused that the referee came close to calling it off.

He added: "The ref was the only one out of the two sets of managers and officials that didn't really want to play, we turned up and the ref said 'I don't like the pitch' fortunately both managers wanted to play the game, and put the referee in a bit of a corner really."

Chambers singled out a number of his players for their performances. He said: "I think Jon Royle had another good game, I think the back four were decent, Dwayne Samuels played well, I think second half it was a collective performance, I don't think we were great first half.

"I think second half it was a collective performance and as it went on they got tierd and we got stronger."

Chambers also revealed that Ben O'Hanlon was not in the squad because his partner gave birth last night.

Despite Telford's protestations, Wolves refused to allow Bradley Reid to feature. The Championship club were concerned with a concussion injury that Reid sustained in the 2-0 win against Darlington.
