Larry Chambers: Elliot Hodge can lift Telford
AFC Telford United assistant boss Larry Chambers is hoping Elliot Hodge can prove to be a 'good asset' during his loan spell from Lincoln City.
Hodge – a winger and the son of former England international Steve Hodge – made his Bucks debut as they lost 2-1 at Harrogate Town on Saturday.
He played as part of an attacking trio with Josh Wilson and Connor McCarthy and was replaced by Danny Reynolds in the 69th minute.
Hodge impressed at Stafford Rangers during a short-term spell this season and Chambers believes the natural width he brings will be beneficial.
"The one thing we have lacked all season is an out and out winger, especially since Micah Evans went," he said.
"We have been hearing good things about Elliot. Danny Cowley at Lincoln offered him to us, so we thought we would take him.
"He showed in little patches that he's lively and he is busy. It was a difficult game for him as we never got enough good possession to get him in the game.
"I'm hoping that over the coming weeks he'll be a good asset for us."
Two Telford players – Dwayne Samuels and Jack Rea – were forced off at the CNG Stadium after picking up knocks.
On those two, and Luca Havern who continued despite hurting an ankle, Chambers said: "Jack has had a kick on his shin. He got it in the first half and he is struggling a little bit.
"Dwayne, again, got injured in the first half and came out in the second and gave it a go.
"I think he has hurt his ankle and that could be ligaments – we will know more in the coming days.
"Luca took a knock on his ankle as well, but I think he will be OK. The one we are worried about, most of all, is probably Dwayne."
John-Paul Pittman scored twice as Telford slumped to their fifth away league loss of the season, Jonathan Royle pulling one back late on.
"I thought we were poor. We expected to put on a better performance than we did," added Chambers.
"We scored late on but I don't think we deserved any more than what we got.
"We had a gameplan and we didn't stick to it, really.
"I don't think we got close to them throughout the game.
"Whenever we did have good possession, we were then very untidy. We were never able to get a foothold."
