Rob Smith: AFC Telford gave 'absolutely everything'

AFC Telford United boss Rob Smith insists his side gave 'absolutely everything' as they conceded a last-gasp equaliser to draw 1-1 at FC Halifax Town.

Joe Fitzpatrick put the Bucks ahead with a 25-yard stunner in the 82nd minute, but the Shaymen levelled through Josh Wilde with one of the five additional minutes left.

"Anybody will tell you that hurts - we were 30 seconds away from it being the perfect away performance," said Smith.

"The lads are absolutely devastated but I was proud of them today as they have given me everything they have got.

"To come here and get a point is an achievement for us. We showed some real heart and resilience against an outfit that has probably got treble than what we have got in terms of resources.

"We are walking wounded but I thought they gave me absolutely everything."

Fitzpatrick replaced the injured Jonathan Royle after 58 minutes and injected life into an otherwise largely uneventful game.

Wilde's goal denied Telford a second league away win of the season - their one triumph on the road was a 2-0 success at Altrincham in October.

"It was a great strike and Fitzy has got that in his locker. It is just a shame it is not the winning goal," added Smith.

"I think, the way we set up, we probably deserved (the win) overall as we frustrated them to very little in terms of chances.

"It just bounced to them at the end, and that is the way it goes."
