AFC Telford United players Ben Bailey, Bradley Reid, Dwayne Samuels together with Father Christmas were among the visitors to the children's wards where they met patients, their families and the staff.

A total of five players and staff from Bucks Head helped to hand out presents during a visit to the site off Apley Avenue.

In a change in arrangements this year, the players and staff covered the cost of the gifts and invited the man in red to make a special appearance for the patients. In previous years the club ran a Christmas present appeal with the help of donations from fans.

The football club's head of youth and community Luke Shelley said: "We took Father Christmas along with us to present the gifts and sweets.

"We also gave the patients, their relatives and the nurses tickets for future game. The staff took the players round the wards to meet the children some of whom were babies and right up to a 14-year-old lad who had broken his leg. Some of them put in requests for the players to come and talk to them personally which they were very happy to do."

Team mascot Bobby Buck also joined in the fun.

The next home game will be on Boxing Day against Alfreton, with kick-off at 3pm. Tickets for adults cost £14, concessions £10, 16 to 19s £5 and under 16s £3.
