The Bucks are 17th in the table – five points clear of the drop zone – ahead of hosting Gloucester City tomorrow.

They go into the encounter on a four-match unbeaten run at the New Bucks Head and Smith said: "At this stage of the season, the main thing for us is getting results and getting those five or six wins that should make sure we are safe. We are in decent nick at the moment and we are as good as we can be really. Our home form has been quite good this season – we have not got a bad record and we certainly prefer playing there than away.

"The crowd has been sensational all season , and we want them to rally behind us as it is a really important game."

The visiting Tigers are 11th and have won three of their last four league matches.

"We are catching Gloucester while they are on a really good run of form – it is not quite the time we would want to be playing them," said Smith.

"Tim Harris (Gloucester boss) has always been the same, he gets his sides pressing and we need to make sure we are able to cope with that.

"Gloucester will win a lot of games between now and the end of the season based on their work rate alone."

Smith will be boosted by the return of striker Dave Hibbert, and Matt Urwin is set to be between the sticks after signing on loan from Fleetwood Town until the end of the season.

Josh Wilson should be leading the line, providing he shakes off a toe injury, and Smith is happy with his attacking options.

"The one thing we have been doing a lot more recently is creating chances," he added.

"Even against Kidderminster, we had a couple of decent opportunities so we are just looking to put them away.

"The only concern for me is Josh Wilson, who has got a problem with his toe and missed the friendly against Market Drayton Town on Tuesday.

"We reckon he should be able to pull through and everyone else is looking fine for the game."
