Fresh from a 6-0 humiliation at the hands of Brackley Town, the Bucks management want to freshen things up in time for the encounter against National League North’s fourth-placed side – who are on a four-game unbeaten run at home.

Boss Rob Smith and assistant Larry Chambers were hugely let down by the performance on Tuesday night, and the latter said: “If there is a possibility, we will look at probably bringing people in because we can’t put up with that.

“As I have said throughout the season though, it’s always easier said than done.

“We can’t put up with that. This is a great football club and we say to the players week in, week out that it’s a privilege to play here.

“And some of them know that. Some of them have been at other clubs and know this is a great club to play for – good support, good facilities.

“The club deserves better. Not just the supporters, but the club deserves better than that.”

In terms of injuries, striker Lee Hughes is set to miss out on the trip to Victory Park with a groin problem.

The 40-year-old former West Bromwich Albion striker was forced off at half-time as Telford beat Altrincham 1-0 last weekend, and was not in the squad for the Brackley game.

Left-back Luke Higham (ankle) is also expected to be on the sidelines for this one while skipper Luca Havern had been struggling with a calf injury, which he felt again in Tuesday night’s thrashing so is a concern.

Chambers was due to assess the fitness of Hughes and Havern at training this evening, and said: “I think Lee is going to be out for another two weeks.

“I think we are targeting the Bradford (Park Avenue), at home, game (on Saturday, March 18) but I don’t know. That is if things go well.

“I think Luca played on Tuesday night with an injury. He came in at half-time with an injury, but he stayed on. I think those are the main ones, to be honest with you. I will probably know more tonight.

“We have not really had a chance to speak to players about injuries so I will know more tonight.”
