Dwayne Samuels: Telford have to tighten up

Right-back Dwayne Samuels is calling on AFC Telford to be watertight at the back following several costly errors from the side in recent weeks.

The Bucks – who are four points above the National League North drop zone – have lost their last three league games and conceded 11 goals along the way.

For the most of the term, the focus has been on the lack of goals scored.

Now though, after a string of lax moments from set-pieces, the attention has shifted to the defence.

Samuels – who has played the most games for the Bucks this term, with 33 – said: "Three games on the bounce, the defence has been leaking goals.

"It is a really frustrating time – losing isn't nice, especially losing in the manner we have been.

"Teams aren't really ripping us apart but set-pieces we keep getting caught out."

He added: "We have to take personal pride in set-pieces. You are allocated a man, so make sure you mark him and track him.

"If everyone does that, then we should be OK.

"That's the main thing, having personal pride and making sure you carry out your job."

Meanwhile, Telford were hoping to get a couple of deals done before the league registration deadline at 5pm today, including extending the loan of Shrewsbury Town's 20-year-old goalkeeper Callum Burton until the end of the season.
