Rob Smith believes Telford are no longer looking over their shoulders
Boss Rob Smith believes AFC Telford United have enough points on the board to stay up following their 1-0 win against Worcester City.
The Bucks - who also beat Stalybridge Celtic 2-0 on Tuesday - are now on 40 points, nine clear of the National League North drop zone.
On coming out on top in two huge games, Smith said: "Six points was the be all and end all.
"We set our stall out to really have a go this week - and we are down to the bare bones.
"It was just about getting a result, and I really believe that will be enough to keep us safe now.
"We won't take our foot off the pedal by any means but we've got two results, and I take my hat off to the lads for grinding in there."
John Marsden struck in the 83rd minute, following a mix-up in Worcester's defence, at the New Bucks Head - and that was his second goal in as many games.
Smith added: "We said, with about 15 minutes to go, it would end up 1-0 to somebody. It just had that feeling.
"I thought we looked the more likely, just about. That little bit of quality that Marsden's got has got us the goal.
"It's a really important day for us. I'm over the moon for the supporters. They have had a tough time watching us, and it was tough again, but I think we will be safe now."
